.... a Dream deferred...Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Funeral Home was founded in 1958 by Jeremiah C. Gaffney Jr. and Doreatha Trowell Gaffney. In the year 1958 Jeremiah C. Gaffney Jr. and his wife Doreatha Gaffney purchased property in Atlanta, Georgia after there marriage to open their funeral home.
The evolution of race restrictions prevented them from opening their funeral home after being told ...”you cannot open a funeral on a street where white people would have to cross paths.”
The Gaffney’s then to fulfill their dreams left Atlanta and relocated to New York and along with Ms. Gaffney’s parents founded Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Funeral Home.
Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Funeral was allowed creation in the state of New York with is location of 92 Wahl Avenue, Inwood, NY 11096.
Jeremiah C. Gaffney Jr was owner operator upon creation and upon his death Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s was trusted to Doreatha Trowell Gaffney daughter Dr. Mary E. Gaffney and naming Dr. Jeremiah C. Gaffney III as managing funeral director.
Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Funeral Home a TEMPLE OF SERVICE since 1958.
